The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/4 x 1-1/2 inches NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion resistant than yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. This material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating enhances cleanliness by preventing dirt and bacteria adhesion and maintains a shiny finish.
