The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/4 x 4 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple offers significant advantages, including easier machining, lower brittleness during work, and enhanced resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. It provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat and is resilient against attacks from salt water, acids, and minerals, as well as peaty soils found in water. Primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
