The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 x 2-1/2 inches NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and far more corrosion-resistant than yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. The material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, as well as in oil, gas, and steam applications. Chrome plating enhances the nipple’s ease of cleaning, prevents dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintains a shiny finish.
