The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1 x 9 NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. The chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and offer superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. This material provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat and is resilient against salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass nipples also find utility in oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plated finish enhances their functionality as these nipples are easy to clean, do not attract dirt and bacteria, and maintain a shiny appearance over time.
