The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple is designed with a size of 1/2 x 1-1/2 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. This product offers superior machinability, reduced brittleness, and enhanced corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, which can dezincify. The brass material provides good resistance to corrosion from water, heat, salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. It is primarily intended for commercial plumbing and OEM applications involving water, but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating on the brass nipples ensures that they are easy to clean, do not attract dirt and bacteria, and maintain a shiny finish.
