The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1 inch by 8 NPT male and is made from seamless red brass pipe, specifically Alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion-resistant than yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat and withstands attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. Chrome plating offers an easy-to-clean surface that does not attract dirt or bacteria and maintains a shiny finish.
