The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples provide enhanced machinability, increased resistance to brittleness, and superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass is known for its good corrosion resistance against water and heat, along with its ability to withstand exposure to salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils in water. While primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating offers ease of cleaning, prevents the attraction of dirt and bacteria, and ensures a lasting shiny finish.
