The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 inch by 11 NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. Chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion resistant than yellow brass, with no risk of dezincification. Brass provides excellent corrosion resistance against water, heat, salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. This makes the material suitable primarily for commercial plumbing and OEM water applications, as well as oil, gas, and steam uses. The chrome plating enhances ease of cleaning, prevents dirt and bacteria buildup, and maintains a shiny finish.
