Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 x 12 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, designated as alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples offer superior machinability, lower brittleness during handling, and exceptional corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, which is prone to dezincification. They exhibit good resistance to water, heat, salt water, acids, and the minerals found in peaty soils, making them suitable for various applications. Primarily intended for water in commercial plumbing and OEM uses, these nipples are also applicable in oil, gas, and steam systems.
