The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/2 x 4 NPT male and is made from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples offer enhanced machinability, lower brittleness during work, and superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, which prevents dezincification. They provide excellent corrosion resistance against water and heat, and resist the effects of salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils in water. Primarily designed for commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass nipples are also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. Additionally, chrome plated brass nipples are favored for their easy-to-clean surfaces, resistance to attracting dirt and bacteria, and ability to maintain a shiny finish.
