The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 x 3 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, which is alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple offers advantages such as easier machinability, reduced brittleness, and enhanced resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, eliminating the risk of dezincification. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat while also resisting attacks from salt water, acids, and the minerals and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, the brass nipple is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. Additionally, chrome plated brass nipples are favored for their ease of cleaning, resistance to dirt and bacteria, and ability to maintain a shiny finish.
