The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 2 inches in diameter and features close NPT male ends. Produced from seamless red brass pipe, which is alloy 230, these nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and far more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and it resists attacks from saltwater, acids, minerals, and peaty soils present in water. This material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, as well as in oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plated brass nipples are favored for their easy cleaning properties, resistance to dirt and bacteria, and ability to maintain a shiny finish.
