The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/8 x 6 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and offer superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. This brass alloy provides excellent corrosion resistance against water, heat, salt water, acids, and the minerals or peaty soils found in water. While primarily used in commercial plumbing and OEM applications for water, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. Additionally, chrome plated brass nipples are advantageous due to their ease of cleaning, resistance to dirt and bacterial attraction, and ability to maintain a shiny finish.
