The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/2 x 2 inches NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion-resistant than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, resisting attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. It is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating makes the brass nipple easy to clean, prevents dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintains a shiny finish.
