The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 inch by 8 inches NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, designated as Alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and exhibit superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance to water and heat and is resistant to attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam environments. The chrome plating on these brass nipples facilitates easy cleaning, prevents the attraction of dirt and bacteria, and ensures a maintained shiny finish.
