The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 1 x 3-1/2 inches NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and exhibit greater corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Commonly used in commercial plumbing and OEM applications for water, these nipples are also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating enhances cleanliness by making the nipples easy to clean, preventing dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintaining a shiny finish.
