The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1 x 4-1/2 NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, using alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are designed to be easier to machine, less brittle, and significantly more resistant to corrosion compared to yellow brass, which prevents dezincification. Brass provides excellent corrosion resistance to water and heat, and it is resistant to attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, this material is also appropriate for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plated finish allows for easy cleaning, deters dirt and bacteria accumulation, and preserves a shiny appearance.
