The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 x 8 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and significantly more resistant to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass offers excellent corrosion resistance to water and heat and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating provides ease of cleaning, prevents dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintains a shiny finish.
