The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/4 x 6-1/2 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated brass nipples provide superior machinability, reduced brittleness during fabrication, and enhanced resistance to corrosion, particularly when compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass demonstrates good corrosion resistance against water and heat and is resilient against salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. Primarily used for water applications within commercial plumbing and OEM contexts, brass nipples are also applicable in oil, gas, and steam environments.
