The Merit Chrome Plated Brass Schedule 40 Nipple measures 1 inch by 7 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. The chrome plating enhances the nipple's durability by making it easier to machine, reducing brittleness, and significantly increasing corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, thereby preventing dezincification. This brass material provides excellent corrosion resistance against water, heat, salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. While primarily used in commercial plumbing and OEM applications for water, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
