The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 x 12 NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This type of chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine and less brittle, providing superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass exhibits good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and it is also resistant to attacks from salt water, acids, and the minerals found in peaty soils. While primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass nipples are additionally suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating enhances their utility as they are easy to clean, do not attract dirt or bacteria, and maintain a shiny finish.
