The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 x 6 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This type of chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and exhibits superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, eliminating the risk of dezincification. The brass construction provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and withstands salt water, acids, and minerals, as well as peaty soils found in water. While primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
