The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 inch by 7 inches and features NPT male threading. Manufactured from seamless red brass pipe (Alloy 230), these chrome plated brass nipples offer superior machinability, reduced brittleness, and enhanced corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides excellent resistance to corrosion from water, heat, salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils commonly found in water. This material is primarily used in commercial plumbing and OEM water applications but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam systems. The chrome plating ensures the nipple is easy to clean, resists dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintains a durable, shiny finish.
