The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 x 8-1/2 inches NPT male and is made from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. Chrome plated red brass nipples offer ease of machining, reduced brittleness, and superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good resistance to corrosion from water and heat and withstands attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. This material is primarily used for water applications in commercial plumbing and OEM settings but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
