Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple (1/4" x close NPT male) is produced from seamless red brass pipe, which is alloy 230. This type of nipple is easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and significantly more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass offers good corrosion resistance from water and heat and effectively resists attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils contained in water. Its primary application is in commercial plumbing and OEM applications for water, but it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plated finish enhances its usability as it is easy to clean, does not attract dirt and bacteria, and maintains a shiny appearance.
