This heavy-duty planer is engineered for high performance and value, featuring a robust 5HP motor with a 20" planing capacity, designed to tackle demanding tasks. Its Byrd® Shelix® helical cutterhead incorporates 100 knife inserts, delivering smoother and quieter cutting along with a finer finish compared to conventional machines. The unit includes a fully enclosed base cabinet equipped with integrated casters for enhanced mobility within the shop. With a cast iron table and extensions that create a substantial 55-1/2" x 20" working area, it provides stability for larger workpieces. The planer offers four feed speeds – 24 and 31 FPM, and lower speeds of 16 and 20 FPM via an included gear change for added versatility. Its solid cast iron construction ensures rigidity, supported by heavy cast iron extension wings for a flat, smooth cut. The kit also comes with a 5" diameter dust port for easy connection to dust collection systems, as well as cast iron extension tables for improved work support.
