The Ultra-Light Plus model from Drive Medical is a lightweight, interchangeable, and easily assembled electric bed designed for optimal functionality and convenience. It features universal, crack-proof head and foot boards that are interchangeable, along with high impact composite end panels. A pre-installed height adjustment motor on the foot section can be installed or removed tool-free in seconds, even with a patient in the bed. The bed incorporates a unique single motor and junction box which are self-contained to minimize noise. In case of a power outage, a 9-volt battery within the motor can lower the head and foot sections up to nine times. The improved hand pendant showcases large, easy-to-use controls. The bed’s construction includes a channel frame with a zinc-coated spring deck, ensuring superior strength while reducing weight. The UL-approved motor allows compatibility with Drive’s and most other manufacturers' bed ends. The transition box mounted on the foot section facilitates interchangeability by enabling rotation changes of the high/low shaft. Additionally, the headboard is taller than the footboard to better complement home decor, while wood grain panels are break and scratch resistant. The foot section weighs 50 percent less than conventional models, simplifying deliveries. Once the high/low shaft is installed, it remains with the bed to prevent loss during future installations. Labels and color-coded springs ensure accurate side rail installation for patient safety. The entire bed, along with side rails and mattress, has been safety-tested by SGS, meeting all applicable FDA entrapment guidelines.
