The Bluff® aluminum dock board with steel curbs is designed to enhance loading operations by improving safety and efficiency while reducing labor costs. This dock board features an anti-skid diamond tread surface and high-visibility beveled curbs for maximum safety, combining the durability of steel with the lightweight properties of aluminum. The resilient aluminum alloy construction includes a positive traction surface, while the bolted-on steel curbs provide excellent impact resistance and help prevent run-off. Each curb is equipped with a full-length handgrip for ease and safety during handling. The safety stop on the underside fits snugly between the truck and dock to prevent movement under load. The dock board is supplied with an 11-degree angle unless a different angle of operation is specified, and it includes an 11" entry lip with a rounded nose to protect tires. It meets OSHA requirements 1910.30(a) and has capacity rated for a single shift with lift truck speeds of 3 mph maximum; for multi-shift operations with 3-wheeled forklifts or trucks using paper roll clamps, an additional 5,000 lbs. should be added to the board's capacity. The width of the dock board should be 12" greater than the lift truck or load, with a popular width of 60", and the usable width is 4" less than the overall width. It is important to note that stackers, 3-wheeled forklifts, and narrow aisle loaders should not be used on the dock board, and refrigerated trucks require special dock boards. Application heights can accommodate up to 5” above the dock with a propane or gas forklift, and up to 3” above the dock with an electric forklift or pallet jack.
