The 3M utility cloth roll measures 2" W x 50 yd and features aluminum oxide with a P120 grit. This kit includes a flexible, J-weight cloth backing for most grades, allowing for conformity to circular edges, angles, or other contours, while rolls in grades P50 or P60 have a stiffer X-weight backing suited for more coarse sanding applications. The cloth remains durable even when bent or rolled, without tearing or shelling, and can be torn by hand for smaller pieces without compromising the sanding surface. Aluminum oxide, known for its fast cut-rate and long life, is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to reveal fresh cutting edges, making it preferable over traditional natural abrasives that dull more quickly. This versatile abrasive is suitable for various materials, including ferrous alloys, and can be used effectively in woodworking and metalworking applications such as blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, and rust removal.
