The 3M Utility Cloth Roll measures 1-1/2" wide by 20 yards long and features aluminum oxide abrasive with a P400 grit. The strip length can be torn from the roll as needed for specific applications. Most grades have a light J-weight cloth backing that provides flexibility to conform to circular edges, angles, or other contours, while rolls in grades P50 or P60 have a stiffer X-weight backing suited for more coarse sanding applications. The cloth is durable and resistant to tearing or shelling even when bent or rolled, yet strips can be torn by hand without compromising the sanding surface. Aluminum oxide is known for its fast cut rate and long life, as it self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges and is suitable for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic. It is applicable in blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, and rust removal tasks within metalworking and MRO industries.
