The 3M utility cloth roll measures 1-1/2" wide by 20 yards long and features an aluminum oxide abrasive with P80 grit. The strip length can be torn from the roll for specific applications. Most grades utilize a light J-weight cloth backing, providing flexibility to conform to circular edges, angles, or other contours, while grades P50 and P60 have a slightly stiffer X-weight backing suited for more coarse sanding. The cloth remains durable when bent or rolled, resisting tearing or shelling, yet strips can be hand-torn for smaller pieces without compromising the sanding surface. Aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its fast cut-rate and long life, offering a tough, durable surface that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges. It is suitable for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic. Typical applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, and rust removal, with industries such as metalworking and MRO benefiting from this product.
