The 3M Utility Cloth Roll, measuring 1-1/2" W x 50 yd, features an Aluminum Oxide P100 grit, allowing for the desired length to be torn from the roll for specific applications. The roll is designed with a light, J-weight cloth backing for flexibility to conform to circular edges, angles, or contours, while P50 or P60 grade rolls come with a slightly stiffer X-weight backing, suitable for coarser sanding tasks. The cloth is durable enough to withstand bending or rolling without tearing or shelling, and strips can be hand-torn for smaller pieces without impacting the sanding surface. Aluminum oxide, known for its fast cut-rate and long life, is ideal for a wide range of materials, including ferrous alloys, and can be effectively used in woodworking and metalworking applications. This abrasive self-fractures to maintain fresh cutting edges, making it suitable for blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, and rust removal, primarily within the metalworking and MRO industries.
