The 3M utility cloth roll measures 1" wide by 20 yards long and features aluminum oxide abrasive with P180 grit. The desired length of the strip can be torn from the roll for specific applications. Most grades have a light J-weight cloth backing providing flexibility to conform to circular edges, angles, or other contours, while rolls in grades P50 or P60 have a slightly stiffer X-weight backing suitable for coarser sanding. The cloth is durable even when bent or rolled without tearing or shelling, and strips can be torn by hand when smaller pieces are needed without compromising the sanding surface. Aluminum oxide is a tough, durable abrasive known for its fast cut rate and long life, self-fracturing to expose fresh cutting edges, and is suitable for a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. This abrasive can be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic, with applications including blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, and rust removal. Typical industries utilizing this product include marine, metalworking, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO).
