3M™ Cloth Band 747D 1" Diameter x 1" Width, 80 Grit Ceramic, is designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, creating a strong bond resistant to high heat and pressure. A grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with a die grinder or rotary drill and comes in various widths and lengths suitable for different contours and tasks, commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness, making the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend harder and longer-lasting than standard aluminum oxide abrasives. It is ideal for moderate stock removal and surface preparation by fracturing frequently to allow a fast cut, handling intense heat and stress.
