3M™ paper sheet 346U measures 2-3/4" x 17-1/2" with 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is constructed of aluminum oxide, a very hard mineral that maintains sharp points on the grains longer than natural abrasives such as emery or garnet. The paper backing is durable for coarse sanding yet flexible enough for use on curved surfaces. The abrasive grains are adhered using open-coat construction, with space between grains to minimize dust buildup and prevent clogging, which extends the usable life of the sandpaper sheet, especially when sanding soft materials. The sheet is suitable for blending joints of connecting pieces in wood- and metal-working and is commonly used for blending and prepping metal prior to painting. Its applications span industries such as cabinetry, custom woodworking and millwork, furniture, metal fabrication, and primary wood and panel processing.
