The IKO shell type needle roller bearing, designated part# TA1212Z, features a metric size with a heavy-duty design, including a 12mm bore, 19mm outer diameter (OD), and a width of 12mm. This bearing is constructed from an accurately drawn thin special steel plate, housing needle rollers that may come with or without a retainer. Known for having the smallest sectional height and weight among needle roller bearings, these components also exhibit relatively high load ratings. When equipped with a retainer, this needle roller bearing is suitable for high-speed applications, as the retainer and thrust ring precisely guide the rollers. It is important to note that these shell type needle roller bearings do not come pre-packed with lubricant, and proper lubrication is essential during use. Generally utilized with shafts that lack inner rings, these bearings perform optimally with a shaft surface finish of 0.2 μm Ra or less and a hardness rating of HRC 58 to 64. For applications where these specifications cannot be met, the use of IKO inner rings is advisable. Due to the thin cross-sections of the outer rings, direct measurements on them may lead to inaccuracies, hence it is recommended to use standard mounting dimensions for shaft and housing diameters. The tolerance for outer ring width is specified as +0 to -0.20 mm.
