The Iko Shell Type Needle Roller Bearing is a metric, heavy-duty component designed with a 24mm bore, 31mm outer diameter (OD), and a 20mm width, identified by part number TA2420Z. This bearing features an outer ring constructed from accurately drawn thin special steel plate and includes needle rollers, available with or without a retainer. Known for having the smallest sectional height and weight among needle roller bearings, it also boasts relatively high load ratings. The retained version is suitable for high-speed applications as the retainer and thrust ring ensure precise guidance of the rollers. Notably, these bearings come without pre-packed lubricant, necessitating proper lubrication during use. They are typically employed with shafts that do not incorporate inner rings, with a recommended shaft surface finish of 0.2 µm Ra or less and hardness of HRC 58 to 64. If these conditions cannot be met, the use of Iko inner rings is advisable. A point of caution is that the outer ring cannot avoid deformation from heat treatment due to its thin profile, and direct measurement on it should be avoided; instead, standard mounting dimensions for shaft and housing diameters should be utilized. The tolerance for the outer ring width is specified at +0 to -0.20 mm.
