The IKO Shell Type Needle Roller Bearing (part# TLAM2016) is a closed-end bearing with a metric specification featuring a 20mm bore, 26mm outer diameter (OD), and a width of 16mm. This bearing, often referred to as a drawn cup, consists of an outer ring manufactured from accurately drawn thin special steel plate, along with needle rollers, with or without a retainer. Notably, these bearings exhibit the smallest sectional height and weight among all needle roller bearings, while maintaining relatively high load ratings. The version with a retainer is suitable for high-speed applications, as the retainer and thrust ring precisely guide the rollers. It is important to note that Shell Type Needle Roller Bearings do not come pre-packed with lubricant; thus, proper lubrication is required during use. They are typically employed with shafts that lack inner rings, and it is recommended to have a shaft surface finish of 0.2 µm Ra or less and a hardness of HRC 58 to 64. If these conditions cannot be met, the use of IKO inner rings is advised. Additionally, due to the thin cross-sections of the outer rings, measurements on them cannot avoid deformation from heat treatment, making it inappropriate to take direct measurements; standard mounting dimensions should be referenced for shaft and housing diameters. The tolerance for the outer ring width is +0 to -0.20 mm.
