The IKO shell type needle roller bearing, part number BA2016ZOH, features a 1-1/4 inch bore, 1-1/2 inch outer diameter (OD), and a 1 inch width. This bearing, often referred to as a drawn cup, consists of an outer ring crafted from accurately drawn thin special steel plate, needle rollers, and may include a retainer. With the smallest sectional height and weight among needle roller bearings, it provides relatively high load ratings. The needle roller bearing with a retainer is suitable for high-speed applications as the retainer and thrust ring effectively guide the rollers. It is important to note that these bearings are not pre-packed with lubricant, and proper lubrication must be applied during use. Typically, shell type needle roller bearings are utilized with shafts that do not have inner rings, and a shaft surface finish of 0.2 μm Ra or less, along with a hardness of HRC 58 to 64, is recommended. If these conditions cannot be met, the use of IKO inner rings is advised. Due to the thin cross sections of the outer ring, it may undergo deformation from heat treatment, making direct measurements inappropriate; instead, standard mounting dimensions for shaft and housing diameters should be utilized, with an outer ring width tolerance of +0 to -0.20 mm.
