The IKO shell type needle roller bearing metric, heavy duty, features a 25mm bore, 33mm outer diameter, and a width of 20mm, identified by part number TA2520Z. This bearing consists of an outer ring made from accurately drawn thin special steel plate and includes needle rollers, which may or may not have a retainer. Shell type needle roller bearings offer the smallest sectional height and weight compared to other needle roller bearings while maintaining relatively high load ratings. The design with a retainer is suitable for high-speed applications, as it precisely guides the rollers in conjunction with the thrust ring. These bearings do not come pre-packed with lubricant, so proper lubrication must be applied during use; they are typically employed with shafts that lack inner rings. For optimal performance, a shaft surface finish of 0.2µm Ra or less and a hardness of HRC 58 to 64 are recommended. If these conditions cannot be met, the use of IKO inner rings is advised. It is important to note that the thin cross sections of the outer ring may cause deformation through heat treatment, making direct measurement on the outer ring inappropriate. Instead, standard mounting dimensions should be referenced for shaft and housing diameters. The tolerance for the outer ring width is +0 to -0.20 mm.
