The IKO separable roller follower consists of an inner ring, needle roller cage, side plates, and a thick-walled outer ring designed to withstand heavy rolling or shock loads. These components can be easily separated for convenient handling. Roller followers are available with crowned or cylindrical outer rings; the crowned outer ring alleviates edge load caused by mounting errors, while the cylindrical outer ring is suitable for applications with large loads or low track surface hardness due to its larger contact area with the mating track surface. Double sealed followers, denoted by suffixes ZZUU and ZZUUR, are pre-packed with grease, whereas double shielded followers with suffixes ZZ and ZZR do not come with grease, requiring adequate lubrication to be added. Proper lubrication is essential between the roller followers and the steel track on which the cam followers operate to prevent seizure and minimize friction.
