The IKO separable roller follower consists of an inner ring, needle roller cage, side plates, and a thick-walled outer ring designed to withstand heavy rolling or shock loads. These components can be easily separated for convenient handling. The roller followers are available with crowned or cylindrical outer rings; the crowned outer ring helps relieve edge load caused by mounting errors, while the cylindrical outer ring is ideal for applications with large loads or low track surface hardness, due to its larger contact area with the mating track surface. Double sealed followers (suffix ZZUU & ZZUUR) are pre-packed with grease, whereas the double shielded versions (suffix ZZ & ZZR) do not include lubrication and require adequate grease to be added. Sufficient lubrication is crucial between roller followers and the steel track on which the cam followers operate to prevent seizure and minimize friction.
