The IKO separable roller follower comprises an inner ring, needle roller cage, side plates, and a thick-walled outer ring designed to withstand heavy rolling or shock loads, allowing for easy handling due to the separable components. Available with crowned or cylindrical outer rings, the crowned variant alleviates edge load resulting from mounting errors, while the cylindrical option is ideal for applications involving large loads or low track surface hardness, due to its larger contact area with the mating track surface. Double sealed followers, designated with suffixes ZZUU & ZZUUR, come pre-packed with grease, whereas double shielded models (suffix ZZ & ZZR) require adequate lubrication to be added separately. Sufficient lubrication is essential between roller followers and the steel track on which cam followers operate to prevent seizure and minimize friction.
