IKO separable roller follower consists of an inner ring, needle roller cage, side plates, and a thick-walled outer ring designed to withstand heavy rolling or shock loads. These components can be easily separated for convenient handling. Roller followers are available with crowned or cylindrical outer rings; the crowned outer ring alleviates edge load due to mounting errors, while the cylindrical outer ring is suited for applications involving large loads or low track surface hardness, thanks to its extensive contact area with the mating track surface. Double sealed followers, indicated by the suffixes ZZUU and ZZUUR, are supplied with pre-packed grease, whereas double shielded variants, denoted by the suffixes ZZ and ZZR, require adequate lubrication to be added manually. Proper lubrication is essential between the roller followers and the steel track on which the cam followers operate, as it prevents seizure and reduces friction.
