The IKO separable roller follower comprises an inner ring, needle roller cage, side plates, and a thick-walled outer ring designed to withstand heavy rolling or shock loads. These components can be easily separated for convenient handling. Roller followers are offered with either crowned or cylindrical outer rings; the crowned outer ring helps to relieve edge loads caused by mounting errors, while the cylindrical variant is ideal for applications involving large loads or low track surface hardness due to its larger contact area with the mating track surface. The double sealed followers, identified by the suffixes ZZUU and ZZUUR, come pre-packed with grease, whereas the double shielded models (suffixes ZZ and ZZR) require adequate lubrication to be added, as no grease is provided. Sufficient lubrication is essential between roller followers and the steel track to prevent seizure and minimize friction.
