The 3M™ Cross Pad 341D measures 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/2" and features a 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an X-weight cloth backing designed for both grinding and polishing applications. It is used for close tolerance polishing of small radii and channels, deburring ends and insides of tubing, and other specialized tasks. The flexible cross shape conforms to the diameter of a workpiece when inserted into a hole or channel, making it ideal for inside diameter finishing jobs. The abrasive is a closed coat of aluminum oxide secured with a heat-resistant resin bond, providing a fast cut-rate, long life, and suitability for various materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The resin adhesive creates a strong, stiff bond capable of withstanding high heat and pressure during heavy sanding. The cross pad attaches to a threaded mandrel (sold separately), which connects to rotary tools such as die grinders or drills, enabling grinding and finishing of inner contours of different sized channels, with maximum RPM depending on pad size. Key applications include blending, cleaning internal diameters, deburring internal diameters, grinding, polishing internal diameters, and straight shaft grinding.
