The 3M™ Cross Pad 341D measures 2" x 2" x 3/4" and features aluminum oxide 80 grit abrasive, designed for close tolerance polishing of small radii and channels, as well as deburring the ends and insides of tubing. Its flexible cross shape conforms to the diameter of the workpiece when inserted into a hole or channel, making it ideal for inside diameter finishing tasks. The pad uses an X-weight cloth backing suitable for both grinding and polishing, with a closed coat of aluminum oxide abrasive secured by a heat-resistant resin bond. It attaches to a threaded mandrel (sold separately) that fits onto rotary tools like die grinders or drills, allowing grinding and finishing of inner contours in various-sized channels. The maximum RPM depends on the pad size. Aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its fast cut rate, long life, and toughness, as it self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, making it suitable for a wide range of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The resin bond ensures the abrasive particles remain firmly attached to the cloth backing, resisting high heat and pressure during heavy sanding. Typical applications include blending, cleaning internal diameters, deburring both external and internal diameters, grinding, polishing, and straight shaft grinding.
