The 3M™ Cross Pad 341D measures 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 3/4" and features aluminum oxide 60 grit abrasive designed for close tolerance polishing of small radii and channels, deburring ends and insides of tubing, and other specialized applications. Its flexible cross shape conforms to the diameter of the workpiece when inserted into a hole or channel, making it ideal for inside diameter finishing jobs. The X-weight cloth backing supports both grinding and polishing, with a closed coat of aluminum oxide abrasive secured by a heat-resistant resin bond that withstands high heat and pressure. The cross pad attaches to a threaded mandrel (sold separately) which connects to rotary tools such as die grinders or drills, enabling grinding or finishing of inner contours of various-sized channels. Maximum RPM depends on pad size. Aluminum oxide is favored for its fast cut-rate, long life, toughness, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges, making it suitable for a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. Applications include blending, cleaning internal diameters, deburring and grinding internal diameters, as well as polishing and straight shaft grinding.
