The 3M™ Cross Pad 341D measures 3" x 3" x 1" and features a 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed for close tolerance polishing of small radii and channels, deburring the ends and insides of tubing, and other specialized applications. Its flexible cross shape conforms to the diameter of the workpiece when inserted into a hole or channel, making it ideal for inside diameter finishing jobs. The X-Weight cloth backing supports both grinding and polishing and is bonded with a heat-resistant resin that securely holds the closed coat aluminum oxide abrasive. This cross pad is used by attaching it to a threaded mandrel (sold separately), which then connects to a rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill; maximum RPM depends on the size of the pad. The aluminum oxide abrasive is favored for its fast cut-rate, long life, toughness, durability, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges, suitable for woodworking, metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The resin bond ensures a strong, stiff attachment of abrasive particles to the cloth backing, capable of withstanding high heat and pressure during heavy sanding. Typical applications include blending, cleaning internal diameters, deburring internal diameters, grinding, polishing, polishing internal diameters, and straight shaft grinding.
