The 3M™ cloth band 341D measures 2 inches in diameter and 2 inches in width with 40 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains. This spiral band or short tube conforms to inner and outer contours for sanding and shaping. Fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains are resin-bonded to a durable cloth backing, providing a fast continuous cut and long-life performance. The band is versatile for grinding to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs, and can also be used for shaping and smoothing wood and fiberglass. It fits onto a rubber wheel attachment, such as a cushion polishing wheel or a rubber slotted expander wheel (sold separately), for use with a die grinder or rotary drill. Constructed with aluminum oxide mineral, it is favored for its fast cut-rate, durability, and long life, suitable for use on various materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The resin bond creates a strong adhesion that withstands high heat and pressure. The bands come in multiple widths and lengths to accommodate different contours and tasks, commonly used in foundry work.
